Derek attends 16th birthday party celebrations for Let's Go Stroke Club

20 Aug 2012

Derek was pleased to join in the celebrations for the work of Britain's biggest stroke club when it marked its 16th anniversary with a party in Halton earlier this month.

As the Patron of Let's Go Stroke Club, Derek attended the group's 16th birthday party on Wednesday 8 August at the Stobart Stadium for its 270 members and special guests, along with the Mayor of Halton, Cllr Tom McInerney, who chose the Club as one of his charities for the year. Life After Stroke Awards from the Stroke Association were presented during the event.

Derek said:

"I was pleased to be able to lend my support to the Let's Go Stroke Club by celebrating its 16th birthday with a party for its members. As it's Patron, I was honoured to cut the birthday cake during the celebrations, and hear from its members about the fantastic work the Club does for stroke victims and their carers.  I pay tribute to their dedication and commitment."

Recent achievements for the Club include the purchasing of their own coach to regularly organise holidays and day trips, and donating thousands of pounds for equipment to help stroke patients at Halton Hospital.
