Derek becomes Patron of The Don't Walk Away Campaign

24 Jun 2010

Derek is delighted to have become a new Patron of the Don't Walk Away and Leave a Friend to DIE Campaign, founded by his constituent Steve Evans.

Steve is a paramedic who has served in the Ambulance Service for over 38 years and is now an international publisher and campaigner.

Steve said of Derek's new role:

"I am delighted that Derek as my local Member of Parliament has decided to become a Patron of my Alcohol Harm Reduction Campaign. His Patronage will be a big boost, as I still try and get my Campaign [resources] as first choice [material] for teachers nationally when they are teaching PSCHE Drug and Alcohol sessions."

On becoming Patron, Derek said:

"I am thrilled to become a Patron of this crucially important Campaign for the safety and care of the residents of Halton and beyond. I pay tribute to Steve for his tireless campaigning - from tackling gun & knife crime in the UK and overseas with charity Redeemer Aid UK,  to educating school children in Northern Ireland on citizens' responsibilities with the collaboration of the emergency services. I look forward to working with Steve to strengthen and develop this Campaign still further."
