Derek has called for a quick decision by the Government on approving the Mersey Gateway Scheme following the receipt of the Planning Inspectorate's Report by the Department for Transport.
In a Written Answer of 2nd February in response to Derek's question asking when the Department expected to receive the report from the Planning Inspectorate, Roads Minister Paul Clark confirmed that "The Inspector's report has now been received by the Department for Transport. Departmental officials are currently considering it."
Derek said:
"I am pleased that the report of the Planning Inspectorate into the Mersey Gateway Project is now with Ministers and officials at the Department for Transport. I have expressed concerns that the report has been submitted later than expected; it was due in November. Having reached this important stage, I will now continue along with my Merseyside & Cheshire parliamentary colleagues to press Ministers for a quick and affirmative decision on this vital infrastructure Project for Halton and the wider region." |
