Derek hosts Question & Answer Session with Ashley School students visiting Westminster

26 Apr 2012

Derek was pleased to be able to meet Ashley School Council members and their staff visiting Parliament last Tuesday 17th April.

Following their tour around the historic Palace of Westminster, the students put questions to Derek on a variety of local and national issues in a meeting room at the twenty-first century Portcullis House, with a splendid view of the Thames and the London Eye.

Derek said;

"I was impressed with the range and content of questions put to me by the students - from my work as an MP at Westminster, to my constituency commitments, how Parliament works, and the important issues like jobs, transport and schooling in our community in Halton.

It's always a pleasure to receive the students from Ashley School and their staff down at Westminster, so they can see and hear from themselves the atmosphere of Parliament and gain an insight into the important work that takes place here.

I hope this will help nurture and sustain the students' interest in our democratic politics for the future."
