Derek joins Irish Guards for Snowdon Challenge

25 May 2011

Derek has spoken of his pleasure in joining the Irish Guards Association for their recent Snowdon Challenge.

On a misty and blustery day, Derek joined members of the Irish Guards Asssociation, relatives of fallen servicemen and women, and serving members of the regiment for the walk to the top of Snowdon.  Sixty Eight people took part in the challenge via three different routes up the mountain in order to raise over £11,000 in the names of Gdsm Chris Davies, LSgt Mark Burgan and Maj Mat for the Irish Guards Appeal Fund.

Derek said "I was delighted to have the opportunity to join so many people walking for such a magnificient cause.  The amount of money we've raised has far exceed expectations and I know that everyone who took part in the walk is thrilled to have contributed such a huge amount of money to a very worthy cause.  I've always supported the Irish Guards Association and look forward to continuing to do so in the future."
