Earlier this month Derek dropped in to see the next generation of Halton's apprentices at work.
He met business & administration, plastering and electrical trainees working in different job roles at Halton Housing Trust, as part of National Apprenticeship Week.
He spoke to apprentices to hear about the skills they developed as part of their on-the-job training. He also met Gerry Fitzpatrick, Head of Enterprise & Employment at Halton Borough Council, and Neil McGrath, Director of Finance & Resources at Halton Housing Trust.
Derek said:
"Apprenticeship Week is an important celebration which recognises not only the achievements of apprentices, but also highlights the value and impact apprenticeships are having on local businesses.
It's been enlightening to see the apprentices in action at Halton Housing Trust and I have been impressed by the skill and dedication that I've witnessed from the people in my constituency undertaking an apprenticeship."
