Derek Twigg, MP for Halton

Derek was asked for help by local residents who use the footpath between St. Michaels and Cunningham Road in Widnes.

The footpath is well used, especially by parents taking their children to school.  It was full of rubbish and very untidy.  Unfortunately the ownership of the path could not be determined.

Following representations to Halton Council, Derek has received a reply from Chief Executive David Parr, agreeing to the Council taking responsibility for maintaining the footpath and also cleaning up the current mess.

Derek said:

"I am delighted that Halton Council has listened to the concerns I have expressed on behalf of my constituents.  This path is in a poor condition and needs properly maintaining.  I thank Halton Council for their decision."
