Derek Twigg MP Elected to Defence Select Committee.

Derek Twigg has been elected by the House of Commons to serve on the Defence Select Committee.  The Committee is made up of 12 members, elected by their parties.  Its responsibility is to monitor and to hold to account the Ministry of Defence and its associated public bodies, including the armed forces, on behalf of the House of Commons and the people who elect it.


Derek said:

“As a former Minister at the Ministry of Defence I take a keen interest in defence matters, including veteran matters.  I am pleased to have this opportunity to be involved in defence issues at this very challenging time for defence.”

The Committee questions ministers, senior officers, civil servants, academics and members of the defence industry and produce regular reports to the House of Commons.
