Derek Twigg MP meets blind veterans at special tea party

01 Jul 2013

Derek Twigg MP joined blind veterans at a special House of Commons tea party held by Blind Veterans UK (formerly St Dunstan’s)  – the charity for vision impaired ex-Servicemen and women to celebrate its Tarts for Troops fundraising campaign.

Derek is urging his constituents to support Tarts for Troops which kicks off on 29 June – Armed Forces Day, and is about having fun and raising money to support the vital work of  Blind Veterans UK. There are many ways that people can get involved with Tarts for Troops. Whether they hold a bake-off, a tarts and tea party, get together with colleagues at work for tarts with their morning coffee, or have friends around for a gourmet tart dinner party. For more information about Tarts for Troops and to register events go to www.tartsfortroops.org.uk.

Derek said:

“I was pleased to support the event, speak to veterans and hear their views”

Blind Veterans UK provides blind and vision impaired ex-Service men and women with lifelong support including welfare support, rehabilitation, training, residential and respite care.”
