Derek Twigg, MP for Halton

Derek attended the opening of the new Widnes Shopping Park last week along with the Mayor and Mayoress of Halton and the Leader of the Borough Council, Cllr Tony McDermott.

Derek said:

"This is a fantastic development for Halton and is a major milestone in the regeneration of the Borough as well as a further sign of confidence in Halton by business, coming on top of the recent announcement of over 800 jobs in the new Tesco/Stobart distribution centre at West Bank.

Hundreds of local people queued up outside the shops before the official opening, clearly giving the development the 'thumps up'.  Congratulations must go to the Halton Borough Council and the developer on a significant achievement.  Halton is now without doubt one of the best places for buisiness to invest in."
