Halton MP Meets Post Office Management over the Future of Runcorn High Street Post Office.

27 Nov 2013

As a result of the current Postmaster wishing to leave the Post Office in Runcorn Town centre, concerns have been expressed about the future of the Post Office.  Derek Twigg sought a meeting with Post Office Management to seek assurances that Post Office services would continue in the town centre.

On 25 November 2013 Derek met at Westminster with Mark Gibson who is the Senior Post Office Stakeholder Manger responsible for Halton.

Derek said;

“I have had a number of concerns raised with me by constituents regarding the future of the Post Office in Runcorn Town Centre and I put these concerns to Mark Gibson. I am pleased to say that I was reassured by him that the Post Office is a 100% committed to keeping a Post Office in the town centre.  Mr Gibson went on to say that they have a number of people interested in taking the service on and hope to make an announcement in the near future.

I am delighted with this news and look forward to an announcement that confirms what the new arrangements will be.
