Derek accompanied representatives of the Hillsborough families to No.10 Downing Street on Saturday 20 June 2009 to hand in a petition containing 40,000 names calling for justice for the 96 Liverpool supporters who died at the Hillsborough Disaster.  The families want the release of all relevant Government and public authority files and documents relating to the disaster to be published as soon as possible.

Hundreds of supporters marched through Downing Street to support the families and were joined by many members of the public.

Derek Twigg said:

"I support the families in their quest for justice and along with my colleagues from Merseyside will continue to lobby Government ministers to release all relevant files and documents as soon as possible."
