Halton MP Derek Twigg calls for Government Inquiry Into Priory Development.
Derek Twigg MP has today called for a government investigation into the planning application for the proposed medium secure unit in Bennetts Lane, Widnes.
Derek Twigg MP said:
“Having met with both Priory Group and Halton Borough Council and listened to the concerns of my constituents regarding the Bennetts Lane Planning Application, I am not satisfied at how the application was submitted with no indication to the Planning Committee of a proposed medium secure unit. I have therefore written today to Ruth Kelly, Secretary of State for the Department for Communities and Local Government, to ask her to order an investigation into what actually went on during the planning process of this development.”
Tony McDermott, Leader of Halton Borough Council, said:
"I am very pleased that Derek Twigg has raised this matter at the highest level. The way the application was submitted has caused us great problems here in Halton and we fully support the request for an investigation".
