Local MP Derek Twigg has welcomed this week’s successful announcement for Halton Women & Girls Amateur Rugby League Football Club. It’s SHAPING THE FUTURE project has been shortlisted as one of the final eight North West projects competing for the latest instalment of ‘The Peoples’ Millions’ Lottery money.
The project will be aimed at expanding the Club’s facility to encompass all-female & disabled changing facilities, pitch drainage and a mobile floodlight.
Praising the initiative, Mr. Twigg said:
“I am delighted that SHAPING THE FUTURE has the potential to be a significant hub of community activity in Halton. GB Special Olympics & the Valiant disability sports group will be able to share the upgraded facilities, in addition to other groups and local schools.”
With ‘The Peoples’ Millions’ giving members of the public a say in how Lottery money is distributed in their communities, the bid for the public vote will be broadcast on 24 November on ITV Granada Regional News. The voting number will be available from 9am at www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/peoplesmillions. Calls will cost 10p from a BT landline, and lines are open from 9am-midnight on 24th November ONLY. A maximum of 10 calls per phone number is permitted. Votes can also be made after the Granada evening news broadcast.
Championing the bid, Derek Twigg added:-
“It is vital that the local community gets behind the bid of Halton Women & Girls ARLFC to secure Lottery funding for the project. I look forward to voting alongside my fellow Halton residents on 24 November to support this fine bid for Lottery funding”.
